So we’ve been getting inquiries from so many of you about the trip to Sturgis. As you could probably assume from our pictures the trip was a success. We are in the works of putting a little documentary together from all of our personal camera footage. I’ve been going through this stuff and it’s fucking hysterical! You’re gonna love it!

We can’t thank the people at Monkey Rock enough for partying their asses off with us and treating us like one of their own. The local hospitality was amazing. Obviously we were a long way from home. Four city boys in the country is recipe for disaster. We looked for trouble but we just had no time to find it, or did we…? We drove probably 30 straight hours minus a few pee breaks. Well, “we” didn’t drive, rather our team of robots named “T Love” and “Orenthal J” kept us on course. We arrived to the site the morning of sound check and settled in flawlessly at the bar! As the show approached hours later we were all getting ready in our dressing room where I could feel something in the air. Or maybe it was what I wasn’t feeling. There was no stress, no urgency, so bullshit. We all kinda looked at each other like we had a job to do and we were dead set on doing it our way. The people of South Dakota embraced us as the bastard sons we are and in turn we had one of the most amazing sets.

I just got the news that not only are they releasing a professional DVD of the Festival BUT… they are going to give us the footage for our entire set! How cool is that? As soon as we have something to show you, you can bet we will.

On behalf of Ang, Sal Joe and myself, we want to thank all of our loyal fans for all of the endless support and for following our journey on Facebook. We had a blast keeping you guys informed! If you missed out search for Solitary Sons on FB and relive the madness!

Stay tuned for more exciting news coming in the following weeks.

We got together last night for rehearsal. It was hot as a two-dollar whore in hell! Our rehearsal room has an air conditioner from 1984. The sound of it makes us think that it’s working but within the first song, the room was scented with man sweat. Every five minutes following, we took turns stating how fucking hot it was. Why do we do that? It’s probably the same reason I like to CRACK my snare when Ang is not paying attention; it’s amusing! Nothing like seeing a grown man in flip flops get startled and then pissed within two seconds. He can’t stay mad at me though. He loves me. But seriously, I don’t do it on purpose. I’m just fucking tuning man! Lol… I had my little digital recorder handy when Ang and Joe started ball-breaking. I got most of the mayhem recorded without them knowing. Classic. It’s 10 minutes of great entertainment. I’ll try to post it up in here in a few as long as they give me the ok. Anyway, we sounded pretty on last night. Crash Theory and SLM sounded amazing. Something got into those songs. It feels like they have been reborn. If you’ve seen us live in the past two to three months you know we’ve been playing a few select tracks from the soon to be released second record. Last night we added a bunch more. They’re coming along outstanding. There is such a righteous vibe exuding from the new songs. A confidence, if you will! We have a few surprises in store for the CD release party. We were working out the details last night. How do you feel about dancing elephants? We’re still trying to get clearance. Whether we get them or not, it’s going to be such a fun night. If there is one show to come out to this summer make it this one. I don’t think we’re playing back in NY for the rest of the summer.

Hello Friends and Enemies,
So the weekend is over and it’s back to the grind (or grinds if u love coffee). We blew our loads in Virginia (the state not the girl) and loved every second of it! That’s a first coming from your four favorite Dirt Bags! Imagine live Rock n’ Roll the way it was meant to be? That’s right! I have seen the future of Rock (without a ‘Crystal’ ball), three words; Charm City Mutha Fuckin Devils! I had the pleasure of watching our boys kick some serious ass at back to back shows, and it was seriously inspiring and uplifting. As Mike and I spoke about music on the ride down to Va., we couldn’t help but feel music in general did not stimulate us the way it used to (Lady Gaga< Madonna). Modern Rock is lifeless and there are no Rock radio stations in NY, depressing? Not for long. You wanna see what i’m talkin’ about?! Look them up; A REAL Rock n’ Roll band! Imagine that? We had the privilege of sharing the stage with them, as well as pizza, beer, coffee, danny-bear, and an army of green bugs. Thanks for the experience CCD! Good friends, good music, good times. Http://www.charmcitydevils.com

Sunday night, I had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Michael Monroe and his all-star band kill a sold-out audience at the Highline Ballroom (Thanks Ginger!). Feels like I went to a rock retreat this weekend and man did I need it!

As for us, we’re ready to take Sweet Cyanide Circus on the road again (didn’t take long for the rash to come back)! New album coming next month. Wait, re-read that last sentence. That’s right, Sweet Cyanide II, NEXT MONTH! I can’t tell you how excited we are to release this record. You want us to put our money where our mouths are, wait until you put this cassette in your 8-Track playa, Fools! The first Single and Video for Bad Jesus are doing great, thanks to you guys! Keep up the good work in spreading the word about us.

Finally, we are gonna be on a boat.
May 22nd, NYC with a bunch of booze and a few new songs to play that you will not want to miss!! Sounds pretty tantalizing to me (but then again, I’m manorexic). Tickets for the Rocks-off cruise are available here

Bad Jesus is from the upcoming release “Sweet Cyanide II” which is rumored to be released world wide in June 2010. “This song in certain ways refers to the fact we’re seeing things in a ‘larger than life’ perspective.” Reveales Singer/Songwriter Sal Scoca “This whole record has been created somewhat on the beliefs of faith and idolization of those afflicted with all of the weaknesses of human nature and mortality.”

Everything surrounding this recording is a bit daring. As far as the cover for the first single we can already see that things may not be exactly what you first expect. -AP

Well, Show #1 with the Charm City Devils was a smashing success! we met a ton of new people, made a bunch of new friends, and had a whole lotta fun. Them folks over in Baltimore sure know how to party that’s for sure. Our livers are still at the Baltimore Medical Center being nursed back to semi-health so if you get a chance, stop by and say hello. Did someone say “Jameson”?!?!? ohhh, that’s right, I DID! And speaking of the Devils, You want an amazing, hard-rockin’ no bullshit group? CHARM CITY DEVILS! John and the fellas put on one hell of a performance! Thanx again CCD, see u next week.
Anyway, If you’re new to our website, you’ll find it pretty interesting and you may actually find yourself on it for longer than you’d expect to be…(that’s our fault for putting up smokin’ hot chicks and hours of the best darn Rock n’ Roll this side of the ol’ Mississippi) And, we also put up our new single ” Bad Jesus” on the main page,; You’ve heard it live since October, now hear it in all it’s manic recorded glory. Diamonds in the rough are so hard to find…unless you already discovered SWEET CYANIDE, then ya know what we’re talkin’ about;) That’s it for now…K.I.T.-S.

So I’m having homemade Pasteles with some friends when the topic of Sweet Cyanide came up. I was asked what the new record sounds like. Seems like a fairly easy question until I’m faced with having to answer it. I heard myself say; “it definitely sounds like Sweet Cyanide, yes it’s titled Sweet Cyanide II but… it’s not a continuation of the first record; or maybe it is.” After I said that I thought; oh great, now I have to further explain. Then again, what else is there to talk about other than who the next Bachelor is going to be?

A year or so before the inception of today’s line up of SC, Joe and I were honored to take our previous band on the road with Sal and Ang’s band. I assure you Daytona has never been the same. Take a bunch of dirtbags from NYC and give them a stage, some alcohol and you’ve just created mayhem! I’ve known Sal and Ang for a while prior to playing with them. We’ve been running the same circles in NYC for years, so to get the call to go on the road with those guys was amazing. It was then that I got to know Sal a little better. Nothing like sitting at a bar on the beach and getting into a drunken therapy session with someone you “kinda” know. Ladies, he had me at “Braggiole!” I felt the love connection but as you know, timing is everything. It wasn’t until a year later that I was asked to come on board and throw down some drum tracks for a new project in the works. After hearing some rough mixes, I thought, Hell yeah! (the expression, not the band) A few weeks later we kidnapped Joe and Ang, locked ourselves in our rehearsal room for a week straight living off of beef jerky and coconut milk and put together what would turn out to be Sweet Cyanide I.

All of us have tasted success at different levels. We’ve all been hypnotized by record labels, management and band wagon jumpers. All can get into your head without you even knowing. Not this time Fuckers! Leaving our previous projects behind, a promise was made back then. This time around we would do things on our own terms; write what we wanted to write and be influenced artistically by everything and anything. Sounds cliché, right? Go fuck yourself! (j/k… no I’m not) it’s not easy to always be mindful of this. There are always distractions that try to derail our initial plan but I think we’ve been pretty damn strong sticking to our guns. Let the rats fall where they may!

Getting back to the Bachelor, I turned to my friend and said, “We will never make the same record twice.” That was a promise we made to each other from day one. Don’t worry, you can smell the Sweet Cyanide stank a mile away on the new record but we have become willing victims of self evolution. If you want to hear more songs like the one’s on Sweet Cyanide I then play Sweet Cyanide I! If you want to hear what the inside of insanity sounds like, wait the torturous wait for Sweet Cyanide II.

Late!
Or how about the days when your best friend would go away on vacation and send you a postcard? “Ohhh, look how nice the grand canyon looks in the picture! And look, you can almost see Jimmy standing on the rocks! Gee whiz, I’m gonna hang this on my refrigerator door”. Or better yet, how about the late night phone calls from girlfriends telling you they wanna break up or that they had sex with your drummer? Obviously a big difference in the content of the “information” you were receiving but none the less, it was human; a face, a voice, a handwritten extension of that person’s self.
Well, not anymore. Welcome to the world of facebook/twitter! And allow me to introduce you to the terrorists that lurk on your page. Wives that get angry at their husbands and post their business for all the world to see; guys that get busy with girls and then proceed to post it on their friends facebooks thinking that the girls won’t see; in the meantime, ruining their reputations, all while making themselves look like classless bone-heads(sorry ladies), And what’s with the FARM bullshit? I have never thought i’d see so many “Farm- loving” people in 2010(especially when most of the “Farmers” probably have never stepped foot on an actual farm, unless you consider that strange place in the suburbs where all the tooth-less gather to buy produce and silly little straw witches a farm! or even better, The “FML” or “This day is shitty” comments; as if we are all supposed to say “OHH no! Carol is having a crappy day, let me call her!” I find myself not answering my phone anymore until i check on the caller’s facebook/twitter status, like a weather forecast! Tornado, Hurricane?! I think i’ll just stay away for a while… Airing one’s dirty laundry or complaining about self-centered nonsense on a public forum sounds about as appealing to me as going on a biafran diet!(look it up!) Good times right?! I think not! But allow me to tell you what does sound like a good time: The next SWEET CYANIDE show in your area!!! Interested?? of course you are! For your consideration:
